The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auctions are now confirmed by BCCI and all teams have started their preparations to get ready for a fresh start in the next three-year cycle. Some teams are looking towards a change of coaching staff which will bring some freshness in their approach as some of the franchises are yet to win the IPL title for even once. Some have not won for a long time and had narrow misses. Some are new in the system and are eager to win the IPL and establish themselves as a formidable franchise. One of them is Rajasthan Royals, who have had a very good cycle but failed to win the title. According to Times of India, recently departed Team India coach Rahul Dravid is set to be the next head coach of RR. "Talks are going on between RR and Dravid, and an announcement in this regard is round the corner," a reliable source told TOI. The 51-year-old has had a long relationship with RR, having been their captain who led them to the Champions League T20 final and IPL playoffs in 2013, before taking on the mentor's role in 2014 and 2015, when they finished third in the IPL. It's not clear if the franchise would retain Kumar Sangakkara, who has been the Royals' director of cricket since 2021 or relieve him after Dravid comes on board. What is Right to Match Card in Indian Premier League? Reports from TOI has also suggested that Dravid's successfor in the NCA as head, VVS Laxman is also in the radar of Lucknow Super Giants. LSG wants Laxman to join their support staff in some capacity although the exact role is yet to be clear. Laxman went to Zimbabwe as the head coach of the young Indian side recently but he has not been appointed as the permanent head coach of Team India. According to sources, Laxman is not keen on continuing at NCA as he had to shift his base from Hyderabad for the job. Certain IPL franchises have taken interest in him for some time now and he is likely to join one of them. LSG management has reportedly had informal talks with Laxman.
