Darren played a captain’s knock for Peshawar Zalmi in the 10th match of the third edition of Pakistan Super League. Chasing a target of 142 runs set on the board by Quetta Gladiators, Zalmi got off to a decent start putting 76 runs at the loss of two wickets. With 16 runs needed off seven deliveries, the new batsman Darren Sammy charged at the opposition. He blasted Pakistan left-arm pacer Rahat Ali for a six at the last delivery of the 19th over. Sammy continued his destructive batting when he next faced Anwar Ali and the result was same – a huge six. Anwar pulled back the next delivery for a dot ball, but Sammy finished the match in style by hitting a four to help Peshawar Zalmi win the match by five wickets. The big man caused so much mayhem in the opponent’s camp – all standing on one leg!

A jubilant captain and also the Man of the Match threw light on what was going on his mind during the post-match conference. Sammy was quoted saying, "Yeah we needed that today.
