Meanwhile, Shaw has been handed a ban by BCCI for using a prohibited substance, commonly present in cough syrups. The young opener was tested for anti-doping tests in February during Syed Ali Mushtaq Trophy 2019. His ban is in effect from March 16 to November 15, 2019. This means that 19-year-old cricketer will not be part of India’s home series against Bangladesh and South Africa. Shaw was not selected in India’s tour of West Indies 2019. He last played for India in October 2018 and was part of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019.
