As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the blunder happened due to multiple reasons. One of the major reasons was that the official scorers hadn’t told the BCCI’s website handling company. The report states that the MCA officials had spoken to the match referee but it was too late to make changes on the website. “This was a botch-up by the scorers. They had to communicate to the Sports Mechanics which manages the software. This exercise was not undertaken prior to the match and hence Shaw’s name was missing,” stated a technician on the basis of anonymity.
