Long-time assistant coach Pravin Amre could move away from his association with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the Mega Auctions 2025. Amre first joined DC setup in 2015 and has worked in multiple capacities, including scouting, until moving over to Mumbai Indians for IPL 2020, but joined DC back in 2021. As per Times Of India, with DC looking to revamp its support staff, Amre and the management have decided to end their nine-year-long working relationship. Amre has been critical for bringing local domestic talent into DC, starting with Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Khaleel Ahmed, and Prithvi Shaw, who have been the backbone of the franchise over the years. IPL 2024 was Amre's final year in his four-year contract, after which all concerned parties decided not to renew.
DC have already named Hemang Badani, and Venugopal Rao as new head coach and Director of Cricket, taking over roles from Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly respectively. The report further suggests that GMR, who will run operations over at DC for the upcoming two years, might give Amre another role within their ecosystem, and not directly related to DC. DC are yet to win an IPL title, having finished as runners-up in the 2020 edition under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, losing to eventual winner Mumbai Indians. Rumors mills suggest that DC might also not retain captain Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025, and will keep Azar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Tristan Stubbs.
