In a post shared on Twitter, he mentioned that he bids adieu to cricket with a very heavy heart. But, Praveen Kumar did not forget to thank his the BCCI and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association for helping him live up his dream. The 32-year-old last was seen wearing the Indian colours in 2012 and will now be a coach for the ONGC team.
“It's been a great journey. It's been a great life. With a heavy heart I want to say gud bye to my 1st love #CricketMeriJaan But the test cap no 268 nd ODI 170 will be mine till indian cricket era will continue... Thankyou @BCCI nd @UPCACricket for helping me to live up my drea," Praveen wrote on his post on Twitter.
“I have decided to retire from cricket. The decision is not taken in haste, I gave a thought over it and I felt it was a right time to say goodbye to the sport which gave me so much," Praveen told the Indian Express. "I want to thank my family, BCCI, UPCA, Rajeev (Shukla) sir for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dreams."
Praveen Kumar has played 68 ODIs for India and has taken 77 wickets. He further went on to say that he has no regrets retiring from the game as he played wholeheartedly.
