Tales of Sachin Tendulkar and his teacher Ramakant Achrekar, are quite famous. Sachin’s coach is fondly known as Achrekar Sir and the master blaster attributes all his countless achievements to his teacher. So today on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the master blaster not only met his teacher Achrekar Sir but also sought blessings from him.

Sachin Tendulkar posted of pictures of himself sitting with his coach. In the other snap, we see Sachin bending down to touch the feet of his coach and seeking blessing from him. “Today, #GuruPurnima, is the day we remember those who have taught us to be better versions of ourselves. Achrekar Sir, I couldn’t have done all this without you. 🙏 Don’t forget to thank your gurus and take their blessings. #AtulRanade and I just did,” read the caption of the pictures.

The 86-year-old was also bestowed Dronacharya Award in 1990 and the Padma Shri in 2010. While speaking about his coach, Sachin said at an event said, “Coaches, gurus are like our parents, because we end up spending so much time with them, we learn so many things from them. (Achrekar) Sir was strict at times, extremely strict and also caring and loving. Sir did not say well-played to me ever, (but) I knew (when) Sir has taken me to have bhelpuri or paani-puri, Sir is happy, I have done something nice on the field.” Sachin was introduced to Achrekar sir by his elder brother Ajit. Tendulkar made an international debut at the age of 16 against Pakistan in Karachi and has never looked back from thereon.
