As per a report by The Indian Express, Uttar Pradesh's Public Works Department (PWD) has deemed one of the stands as dangerous for the fans. Government representatives were concerned that the structure may collapse since it couldn't support the whole stand's weight throughout the game. Consequently, during the Test, fewer than half of the Balcony C stand's capacity will be available for purchase. As quoted by Indian Express, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association CEO Ankit Chatterjee said, “The PWD has raised some issues and we have agreed that we will not sell all the tickets of Balcony C. We have been told to sell only 1700 tickets for the stand, which has a capacity of 4,800. The repair work will continue for the next couple of days." PWD authorities state that gathering a large number of people in the area of the stadium poses a serious risk. A team of engineers was at the Balcony C stand for about six hours on Tuesday. The Green Park Stadium in Kanpur is owned by Uttar Pradesh's sports department in recent years and doesn't have much international exposure. The major reason behind the same is the newly built Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
