Even though Pakistan started poorly, Nida Dar played steady inning of 23 runs and later Fatima Sana scored quickfire 32 runs to put  a challenging total against Sri Lanka. Needing six runs per over, the target seemed easy, but after Chamari's wicket, the Sri Lankan side failed to make comeback in the match and lost by 31 runs. Hats off to Fatima Sana and her team who silenced their critics with a great performance on the field.

Earlier in the opening match of the competition, the Bangladesh Women’s team successfully defended 119 runs against the Scotland side. It will be interesting to see whether the Pakistan side does the same against Chamari Athapaththu and co. Sri Lanka has a strong batting line-up though.

The Pakistan women’s side, who was looking down and out in the early stages of the match put up a challenging total on the board. Nida Dar and Fatima Sana scored 23 and 32 runs to put up a respectable score. The Pakistan team’s bowlers now have something to defend. As for the Sri Lankan side, Chamari Athapaththu and Sugandika Kumari took three wickets each but the side couldn’t take advantage of early break-throughs.
