Rain has had an impact on this year's Asia Cup so far. Fans have had to keep an eye on the sky while watching the matches, in this Sri Lanka leg of the tournament where one match (India vs Pakistan) in the group stage had to be called off due to rain in the second innings. The downpour have threatened to play spoilsport in the Super Fours as well, washing out the play between India vs Pakistan on September 10 before a reserve day came to the aid of the fans in watching out the archrivals play out a full game. But the luxury of reserve days is not available to every game in the Super Four stage, which generated a bit of controversy earlier. The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match in the Super Four stage is a virtual semifinal with the winner of this contest going through to the final to meet India.  PAK vs SL Preview: Pakistan’s Injury-Hit Team Takes On Spirited Sri Lanka for Asia Cup 2023 Final Spot.

India became the first team of Asia Cup 2023 to enter the final following victories over both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in consecutive days. While the win over Pakistan was a much more convincing one, the victory against Sri Lanka showed that the bowlers as well as fielders were ready to handle the pressure of defending low scores on days when batters do not click. Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have had one victory apiece in the Super Four stage and occupy the third and second spots respectively with two points each. Sri Lanka would have a bit of home advantage going into this match but that is expected to be negated with both teams having enough quality in their ranks to put on a classic. But what if there's rain again? See how the weather is expected to play out.

As expected, the forecast is not that great for this match. According to the weather report above, the sky would be cloudy and there would be thunderstorms following that. The temperature is set to hover around 27 degrees to 30 degrees celsius. It has to be noted that if there's a washout, then Sri Lanka will go through with both teams sharing points and that is because of a superior net run rate. Pakistan's net run rate took a big hit when they lost to India by 228 runs.

R Premadasa Stadium Pitch Report

The pitch is set to be assisting spinners, the evidence of which was seen in Sri Lanka's dominant bowling performance against India. Spinners would extract a significant amount of turn on this track and also, batters would aim to make the most of the lightning-quick outfield, especially during the field restrictions. It would be ideal to bat first and set a total for a team which wins the toss.
