The ACC Asia Cup- an international tournament organised by the Asian Cricket council, is a biennial tournament alternating between T20I and ODI. The 15th edition of the event is being held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Originally it was to be held in 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Pakistan has won the Asian title two times in the last 15 years and ranks third in the most title wins behind India (7 titles) and Sri Lanka (5 titles). Out of the four finals Pakistan has played in, they lost two in the years 1986 and 2014, and both against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan is the two-time Asia Cup champion. They won their first Asia Cup in 2000 which was held in Bangladesh, after defeating Sri Lanks by 39 runs. In 2012 they snatched their second Asia Cup title by an inch, as they secured a win over Bangladesh by just two runs. Pakistan, being the ICC full member nation, automatically qualified for each edition of the Asia Cup. In the 2022 Asia Cup Pakistan will be facing their arch-rivals, team India in their opening game.
