‘6 sixes of an over’; however, this time it is not Yuvraj Singh, Herschelle Gibbs, or Sir Garfield Sobers, but a teenager from Sydney – Oliver Davies – who has done the unimaginable! While playing for the New South Wales Metro, the 18-year-old struck 6 sixes in an over against Northern Territory on the first day of the U-19 National Championships in Adelaide.

Oliver Davies went on to score 207 runs off only 115 balls. Davies’ stupendous innings included 17 sixes and 14 fours, as he went on to become the first double centurion in the history of National Championships.

After achieving one of the rarest feats in the history of cricket, NSW Metro’s captain said, “After the first two sixes I had it in the back of my head I wanted to give it a crack, and it paid off at the end.”

Speaking about what was going into his mind while smacking those sixes, Davies said, “I was trying to target (the area) from forward square to cow corner, and I was just getting down on the back leg, almost before it was even bowled, and trying to slog sweep them over mid-wicket.”

Riding high on Oliver Davies extraordinary double-century, NSW Metro went to post 406/4 in their quota of 50 overs. While chasing, Northern Territory were bundled out on 238 runs, as they lost the match by 168 runs.
