Virat Kohli fell 23-run short of 42nd ODI century and a third World Cup hundred after getting dismissed by Mohammad Amir during the India vs Pakistan clash at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on Sunday (June 16). The Indian skipper walked-off after apparently nicking an Amir bouncer in the 48th over of the Indian innings. But snicko replays showed that there was no evidence of him edging or nicking the delivery. India vs Pakistan Live Cricket Score of ICC World Cup 2019 Match.

The incident occurred in the 48th over after play had resumed following a brief rain interval. Amir bowled peach of a bouncer which Kohli attempted to pull, but only ended up nicking to wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. But surprisingly, even before the Pakistani players could appeal and the umpires produced his decision, Kohli started walking back. India vs Pakistan Live Cricket Score 22th ODI Match.

A normal DRS check later showed that there was no proper evidence of any edge or spike and therefore Kohli would have been given not out even if Pakistan had gone for the referral. Whether Kohli had thought otherwise is a different story but his surprise decision to walk back to the pavilion when India needed him most at the crease was confusing to most fans. Many thought it was a bizarre decision by the Indian skipper and he perhaps could have waited for the umpire to produce the final decision on the matter. India posted 336/5 at the end of 50 overs with opener Rohit Sharma scoring a brilliant century, while Kohli and KL Rahul complemented him with half-centuries.

Earlier, Kohli became the fastest batsman to complete 11,000 ODI runs breaking a 12-year-long record set by Sachin Tendulkar in December 2002. While Sachin took 276 innings to reach the landmark, Kohli reached the landmark in 222 innings.
