Nepal's Rohit Paudel Breaks Sachin Tendulkar and Shahid Afridi's Record, Becomes Youngest Male Cricketer to Score an International Half-Century!

The 16-year-old cricketer from Nepal, Rohit, became the youngest male player in cricket history score an international half-century. The record was achieved during Nepal vs UAE, 2nd ODI match.

Rohit Paudel – the name will go down in history as the one who eclipsed records of Sachin Tendulkar and Shahid Afridi. The 16-year-old from Nepal, Rohit, became the youngest male cricketer in history score an international half-century. The record was achieved during Nepal vs UAE, 2nd ODI 2019, where the visiting team, Nepal won the match comprehensively.

Rohit Paudel scored 55 runs from 58 balls in which the right-handed batsman hit seven fours. Riding high on his half-century, the Nepalese team posted a par total, i.e. 242/9, on the scoreboard. Paudel went past Sachin Tendulkar and Shahid Afridi as he hit his first international half-century aged 16 years and 146 days. Earlier Sachin Tendulkar took the world by storm when he had scored 59 runs against Pakistan in a Test match when he was 16 years and 213 days old.

Shahid Afridi previously held the record in an ODI. The former Pakistan captain scored a 37-ball century against Sri Lanka, a record that time, in his maiden innings as a batsman aged 16 years and 217 days.

Rohit Paudel is hailed as the future star of the Nepalese cricket team. Paudel is known for his heroics against Indian pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti, where he scored 24 runs off five balls in an Under-19 ODI match in 2016. Also, Paudel was also a part of the team when Nepal beat Papua New Guinea to secure ODI Status in an ICC World Qualifier match.
