AB de Villiers, who retired from international cricket in May this year, for the first played a game of cricket. And it was a solid start for the former South African captain post-retirement. De Villiers, who has decided to continue playing T20 leagues around the world, will be seen in action in South Africa’s T20 tournament Mzansi Super League. ABD’s knock helped Tshwane Spartans set a target of 218 runs for the Jozi Stars. The match was a closely fought one and in a high scoring thriller, Spartans emerged victorious by just five runs. Interestingly, de Villiers will captain the Tshwane Spartans in the MSL T20 2018 which is scheduled to begin from November 16 onwards.

A total of six teams namely, Cape Town Blitz, Durban Heat, Jozi Stars, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, Paarl Rocks, Mzansi Super League, and Tshwane Spartans will fight to out for the title in the inaugural edition of the league. AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle Among List of Top 5 BPL Players to Watch Out For!

The tournament kicks-off with Cape Town Blitz vs Tshwane Spartans. The league will feature 32 matches including the final which will be played on 16 December 2018. Meanwhile, after the MSL T20, De Villiers will be seen in action in Bangladesh Premier League 2018-19 (BPL) and Pakistan Super League 2019 (PSL T20)
