Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim became the first wicketkeeper-batsman to score two double centuries in a Test career. Mushfiqur surpassed seven other wicketkeepers which includes the likes of MS Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist, Andy Flower and Kumar Sangakkara, to notch two double tons. The right-handed batsman also became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score two double hundreds in Tests. Resuming on an overnight score 111, Mushfiqur added 108 runs more to finish unbeaten on 219. Mushfiqur’s knock included 18 fours and a six as Bangladesh declared their innings on 527 for seven. Apart from sharing 266-run stand with Mominul Haque for the fourth wicket, Mushfiqur added unbeaten 144 with Mehidy Hasan for the eighth wicket to take Bangladesh to the mammoth total.

Meanwhile, Mushfiqur also now holds the highest individual score in Tests by a Bangladeshi batsman as he surpassed Shakib Al Hasan's 217 against New Zealand. The former captain faced 421 deliveries during his knock- the most faced by a Bangladeshi batsman. At close of play on day two, Zimbabwe had lost the wicket of skipper Hamilton Masakadza and were trailing by 497 runs. For Bangladesh, apart from Mushfiqur, Mominul scored 161 while Mehidy Hasan scored unbeaten 68.
