Batting on 74, it took Indian opener, Murali Vijay, just six balls to complete his century. Playing against Cricket Australia XI, Vijay smashed part-time spinner Jake Carder for 26 runs to bring up his three-figure mark. Vijay smashed Carder for 4, 4, 6, 2, 6, and 4 in the 39th over to race to his century. With this performance, Vijay has sealed his spot an opener for the first Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, starting December 06. Vijay, who was not sent to bat in the first innings, made this opportunity count as he slammed an impressive ton. During his stay, the 34-year-old scored 16 fours and hit five sixes.

Carder, interestingly, was bowling his first over of the match. Despite being hit for 26 runs, CA XI captain Sam Whiteman persisted with Carder. Meanwhile, India’s only warm-up match ended in a draw as fourth day’s play ended with the visitors scoring 211 for two. India began their second innings trailing 186 runs, but openers Vijay and KL Rahul shared a century stand for the opening wicket to cut down the deficit. Rahul was dismissed on an individual score of 62. Vijay and Hanuma Vihari then added 102 runs for the second wicket with the majority of contribution coming from former’s bat. Vijay then fell to Daniel Fallins for 129.
