If there is one player every franchise owner want in their team, it has to be MS Dhoni. The former Indian captain is a complete package and no wonder every team would love to have him in their ranks. Recently, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) co-owner Preity Zinta admitted that she always wanted Dhoni in her team but at the same time also rued the fact that it won’t be possible ever.
"There is just one player who I have always wanted in my team but that won't ever happen... and that is MS Dhoni. When the IPL started I wasn't a Dhoni fan but from what I've seen of him in the last 10 years I've started to admire him," Preity was quoted as saying by India Today. KXIP Owner Preity Zinta Caught on Camera Saying ‘I am Very Happy That Mumbai Indians Did Not Qualify’
"Last year everybody started saying Dhoni should stop playing but look at him this year. He is unbelievable and I think it's unfair at every step to challenge a player once he reaches a certain stature. He doesn't need to tell people who he is, he is Dhoni. I really admire him because he was a really terrific captain for India. The country won so much under him. Even when you see him on the ground he remains absolutely calm and collected. He remains gracious in defeat as well. When he wins he's obviously amazing,” she added.
Meanwhile, led by Dhoni CSK is playing its seventh IPL final and are up against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Dhoni has remained with CSK since the inception of IPL. After the Super Kings were suspended for two years, Dhoni played for now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant. He captained the team in 2016 and was then replaced by Steven Smith in 2017.
KXIP, on the other hand, started their IPL 2018 campaign on a high but towards the end lost the momentum and eventually missed out a place in the playoffs. Interestingly, it was against CSK, KXIP were knocked out of the tournament.
