The footage of the same has surfaced online where an Internet user pointed out the same. The incident took place in the 45th over. The wicket-keeper batsman gently pushed the ball towards long-on before running down for a single. The footage shows that Dhoni did not enter the crease. Check out the video below. As per the rule book of the ICC, the team could be penalized 5 runs if the batsman is found guilty of not completing the run. "If either umpire considers that one or both batsmen deliberately ran short at that umpire's end, the umpire concerned shall, when the ball is dead, call and signal Short run and inform the other umpire of what has occurred and apply 18.5.2", the rulebook reads. Had the umpires noticed short-run made by Dhoni, India would have been chasing the total of 303 runs instead of 298.
