Following India’s 18-run defeat against New Zealand in the semi-final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, fans have once again started criticising MS Dhoni for his slow paced innings. Before being run-out in the penultimate over, Dhoni faced 72 balls for his 50 runs and could not accelerate towards the end. Dhoni could manage a four and a six only during his stay. Surprisingly, the former captain came out to bat at number seven below Hardik Pandya at the fall of Rishabh Pant’s wicket with India’s score reading 92 for six. Dhoni then formed a record partnership with Ravindra Jadeja for the seventh wicket as the duo added 116 runs. However it was Jadeja who took more of the initiative between the two and Dhoni at times failed to keep the scoreboard moving. With Dhoni not being able to up the ante towards the end, Jadeja had to go for big shots and risk his wicket. Jadeja eventually succumbed and that allowed Kiwis to crawl back in the game. Dhoni was then run-out while looking to steal a second run. Times change
Was a megastar. But I feel as though Dhoni 4 years ago and Dhoni now completely different and has multiple times since return just dug a holes for the Indians. Especially when Pant is a keeper!!

Chasing 240, India managed only 221 after being reduced to five for three inside first four overs. This was India’s fourth semi-final defeat. Meanwhile, New Zealand qualify for the Cricket World Cup final for the second consecutive time and will meet either England or Australia in the summit clash.
