As of now, Dhoni has scored 3923 runs for the Chennai based franchise in 171 matches and averages 40.44. The CSK skipper has scored 19 half-centuries for the team. If and when Dhoni manages to breach the 4000-run mark, he will become the second batsman after Suresh Raina to cross the landmark.
Interestingly, Raina, who has also represented Gujarat Lions, earlier in the tournament became the first batsman to complete 5,000 runs in IPL.
