MS Dhoni Now Holds the Record of Most Stumpings in IPL, Surpasses KKR’s Robin Uthappa

During the Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018) final between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), MS Dhoni broke a wicketkeeping record. The CSK captain became the wicketkeeper with the highest number of stumpings in the history of IPL. Dhoni surpassed Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Robin Uthappa’s record when he stumped SRH captain Kane Williamson off Kar Sharma’s bowling. The dismissal took Dhoni’s stumping tally to 33, going past Uthappa’s 32.

However, on overall dismissals list, Dhoni (116) is on second behind Dinesh Karthik (124). The KKR captain is on third on when it comes to stumpings tally with 30 against his name. Meanwhile, as far as captaincy record goes, MS Dhoni equalled Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma’s record of three IPL titles. Interestingly, CSK were making a comeback in this year’s IPL after facing a two-year ban. For those two seasons, Dhoni played for now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant. He captained the side in 2016 and was subsequently replaced by Steven Smith in 2017.
