With MS Dhoni all set to be rested for remaining two matches against Australia, it appears that he might have played his last One-Day International (ODI) on the Indian soil. The Australian series is India’s last assignment before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which starts in May and chances are the former captain could retire at least from ODIs after the mega tournament. Interestingly, the third ODI between India and Australia took place at Ranchi- Dhoni’s home venue. And in a way, it could be a perfect ending for the former skipper given that he played his last ODI in front of the home crowd if at all MS decides to retire post World Cup.

Dhoni, who came into bat at number five, managed to score only 26 off 42 balls. India were chasing 314 runs and lost the match by 32 runs. After the match, Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar said that Dhoni will not be playing the last two ODIs against Australia as he is going to take rest. India’s is yet to name the squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, but Dhoni being one of the core members of the team has his place cemented.
