Windies opener Chris Gayle fittingly becomes the first batsman to smash 300 sixes in the Indian Premier League history. Gayle achieved the feat while playing for Kings XI Punjab in the 12th edition of the IPL. The hard-hitting left-handed batsman at the start of the IPL 2019 needed right more sixes to complete the milestone. The 39-year-old smashed his 300th six in the Kings XI Punjabās third match of IPL 2019 against Mumbai Indians.
Gayle is way ahead on the list of most sixes in IPL. Former South African batsman AB de Villiers is second on the list with 192 maximum hits. Following De Villiers, Chennai Super Kingsā MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina occupy the third and fourth place with 187 and 186 sixes respectively. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma completes the top-five and has hit 185 sixes thus far. Interestingly, Gayle has played the least number of matches among top five players on the most sixes in IPL list. The KXIP opener, who has previously represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), achieved the milestone in just 115 matches, 114 innings.

Apart from holding the most sixes in IPL record, Gayle also has most centuries in IPL. He has scored six centuries along with 25 half-centuries. The left-handed batsman has also won Orange Cap twice in IPL in 2011 and 2012 season, scoring 608 and 733 runs respectively.
