Most Runs in ODIs for New Zealand: Ross Taylor Surpasses Stephen Fleming During NZ vs BAN 3rd ODI

Ross Taylor, on Wednesday, February 20, surpassed former captain Stephen Fleming to become New Zealand’s highest run-scorer in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Taylor achieved the feat during the third ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh at Dunedin. Taylor scored 69 off 82 balls to go past Flemings 8007 runs. Taylor is only second New Zealand batsman after Fleming to go past 8000-run mark in ODIs. While Flemings 8007 runs came in 279 matches, Taylor has so far played 218 matches. The right-hander is also the country’s top centurion. Taylor has 20 ODI centuries against his name while Nathan Astle and Martin Guptill have 16 each. As far as half-centuries are concerned, Taylor (47) is second behind Flemings (49).
Meanwhile, in the third ODI New Zealand posted 330/6 in their allowed 50 overs as the home side eyes whitewash against Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series. New Zealand came into the match with an unassailable 2-0 lead after winning the first two ODIs.
Apart from Taylor, Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham scored half-centuries as well to help New Zealand post such a big total. Towards the end, it was Colin de Grandhomme’s cameo of 37 runs that helped Kiwis post 330 on board.
