Australian pacer Pat Cummins has taken the 2020 IPL Auction by storm as he became the most expensive foreign player in IPL of all time breaking the previous record held by Ben Stokes in during the 2018 IPL Auction. The Aussie was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping INR 15.5 crore, this makes him the second most expensive player in IPL history. The auction is being held in Kolkata on December 19, 2019 (Thursday) and all the eight franchises are fighting to get their desired players for their teams. Pat Cummins has become the second most expensive player in IPL history after Yuvraj Singh, who was bought for INR 16 crore by Delhi in IPL 2015. Stokes was the most expensive foreign player in IPL 2017, attracting a bid of INR 14.5 crore by Rising Pune Super Giants. Here is the list of the most expensive foreign players in IPL.

Pat Cummins – 15.5 crores

The Australian pacer Pat Cummins was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 15.5 crore. He became the most expensive foreign player in IPL history and the second most expensive player of all time in IPL. Cummins who enjoyed a fantastic 2019, was bought by two-time champions KKR.

Ben Stokes – 14.5 crore

England all-rounder Ben Stokes became the most expensive foreign player in IPL back in 2017 when he was bought by Rising Pune Super Giants. He was fantastic for Pune as the Englishman was vital in their bid of reaching towards the finals.

Rajasthan Royals bought the English Southpaw for 12.5 crores during the 2018 IPL auction. Stokes wasn’t able to replicate his heroics from the last season as the Royals were knocked out in the eliminators.

Glenn Maxwell – 10.75 crores

The Aussie all-rounder was one of the most expensive buys in the 2020 IPL Player Auction as a lot of teams fought to get him in their side. But KXIP prevailed in the end and got their hands on the 31-year-old. The Aussie played in the Punjab side between 2014 and 2017 and was instrumental in their 2014 campaign when they made it into the finals.

Apart from these players, Virat Kohli is the highest-paid cricketer in the tournament's history with 17 crores while Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni will get 15 crores in the upcoming edition of the mega tournament.
