Cricketer Mohammed Shami has been in the midst of severe controversies, following his wife's Hasin Jahan's alleged accusation of extra-marital affairs and of domestic torture against him. According to recent reports, Shami's family are scheduled to meet Hasin's lawyer in Kolkata for a possible amicable settlement for the sake of their three-year old child. It also further states that efforts are being made to try for an out-of-court settlement.
Shami has been charged under various non-bailable and bailable sections of the IPC, including section 498A, which deals with cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives, Section 307 - attempt to murder, Section 323 - punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 376 - rape, Section 506 - criminal intimidation, Section 328 and Section 34. Recently, the player had also expressed his interest of sorting the issue with his wife. "If this matter can be solved by talking, nothing can be better than that. Only patch up will do good for us and our daughter. If I have to go to Kolkata to solve the matter, I will. I am ready to talk, whenever she wants," Shami told media here.
The spat between the couple has actually taken an ugly turn as Hasin spilled dirty secrets about her husband Shami. Jahan posted screenshots of text messages of questionable nature that Shami allegedly exchanged with various women. From accusing Shami of forcing her to have sexual relationship with his brother, to being involved in match-fixing, Jahan has made numerous shocking revelations over the last few days. Owing to the negative noise about the player, Shami has also been dropped from a list of contracted players unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India.
