According to ABP Bengali, on August 23, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Hasib were informed by the court that they found no reason to summon the Indian cricketer on the basis of the complain lodged by Hasin Jahan, but for the further proceedings of the court, Shami has to appeal to the trial court and seek bail within 30 days. After completing his endeavours with the Indian cricket team in the Asia Cup 2023, Shami and his brother appeared before the court on Tuesday, September 19 and were granted bail by the court.
Jahan filed a case of cruelty and assault against Shami in 2018. She alleged her that Shami assaulted her after she protested against the cricketer for allegedly having extra-marital affair. Shami and his elder brother Hasib where questioned by the Kolkata Police's Women's grievance cell and an arrest warrant was used against the cricketer by the Alipore Police station. Although the local court of Kolkata put a stay order on the arrest warrant. In January, 2023, Alipore court ordered Shami to pay Rs 50 Thousand to Hasin Jahan as monthly compensation. Hasin moved the Supreme Court in May, 2023, challenging the Kolkata High court order which invalidated her plea seeking to remove the stay on the arrest warrant against her husband issued by a local court. In the petition to Supreme Court, Hasin has alleged that Shami was having illicit relations with prostitutes during his BCCI tours . She also informed the court that from last 4 years, the trial has not progressed and has remained stayed.
