Last year, Shami was in trouble after his wife Hasan Jahan alleged the cricketer of extra-marital affairs. Apart from it, Jahan also claimed that the bowler was involved in match-fixing and had done age-fudging as well.
Indian cricket team’s fast-bowler Mohammad Shami was once again the talking among social media users. However, sadly it was not about his bowling that caught everyone’s attention. In fact, Shami’s text message to a woman named Sophia on Instagram caused all the furore. Though the message was not derogatory in nature, but Sophia shared the screenshot and soon it was all over the internet. Shami’s message to Sophia read ‘good afternoon’. The screenshot was shared on Twitter by a profile named @sophiacfc_ Along with the screenshot, the tweet read, “anyone wanna tell me why some random cricket players with 1.4M followers keeps messaging me.”
Once the screenshot was in the public domain it was bound to catch all the attention. There were mixed reactions to it while some cited Shami’s past behaviour and his sour relation with estranged wife, some felt that the message was simple and there was no need to make an issue out of it.

Despite his personal problems, Shami continued to perform well and cement his place in the side. The pacer is currently part of the Indian team which has made it to the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and will face New Zealand in the semis. Shami is four matches has picked 14 wickets thus far, which includes a hat-trick against Afghanistan. It was only the second instance of an Indian bowler taking a hat-trick in a World Cup match.
