Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been warned twice by the on-field umpires for running into the middle of the pitch, which is cricket’s “protected area”, during the India vs Pakistan ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash at the Old Trafford Ground in Manchester on June 16 (Sunday). The fast bowler was first warned in the opening over when ran straight into the middle of the pitch in his follow through after bowling his delivery. Then in the fourth over Aamir has been warned again by the umpires asking him to not step in the middle of the pitch.

The ICC rule book states that a bowler given three warnings for stepping into the protected area of the pitch will be barred from further bowling in the match. Aamir is therefore just one warning away from diminishing his influence in the match, which would be a sorry sight for the cricketing fans in such a highly-contested match as this. Pakistan are yet to beat India in a World Cup encounter and currently have a 0-6 head-to-head record against the two-time champions. But they can take enough inspiration from their famous victory over India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final and look to get some pride back.
