After Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir sparked controversy after linking an anti-Pakistan tweet. The tweet by a user read, ‘Mohammad Amir should leave from terrorist country’. Later, the Pakistan bowler clarified that he mistakenly liked the tweet. The 27-year-old cricketer said that he intended to like some other tweet but mistakenly like the controversial tweet, which started an argument in the social media. Retweeting a news story which mentioned the event, Amir replied, “No sir by mistake I liked that tweet I was trying to like other tweet”. He also tweeted “and proud to be a Pakistani”, to clear his stance on by mistake liking the tweet. Pakistani journalist Sai Sadiq also supported the Pakistan cricketer saying that Amir wanted to like his tweet but mistakenly liked something else. “No controversy at all. Amir meant to like my tweet and accidentally liked the incorrect one. A few seconds later he corrected it”, Sai Sadiq’s tweet retweeted by Amir read.
Amir, who showed a stellar show in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, recently retired from the Test cricket saying that he wants to concentrate on limited over format. “It has been an honour to represent Pakistan in the pinnacle and traditional format of the game. I, however, have decided to move away from the longer version so I can concentrate on white-ball cricket,” the Pakistan pacer had tweeted after announcing retired from Test cricket. However, his decision was slammed by former Pakistan cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram. Meanwhile, some stories in Pakistan media also claimed that Amir is planning to settle down in the United Kingdom. The reports claimed that Amir, married to a British citizen Nargis Malik, has applied for a spouse visa through which he can stay in England for 30 months.
