The right arm medium pacer snapped four quick wickets and destroyed the Australian unit with his killer spells. He bowled at an economy of 3.73 and claiming nine wickets, he gave away 73 runs. In the first match which ended in a draw, Abbas went on to get 7 wickets and thus went on to become the joint-second fastest pacer to achieve the 50-wicket mark for Pakistan. Yasir Shah is the fastest Pakistani overall to 50 wickets and has reached the landmark in nine matches.
