England cricketer Moeen Ali is currently part of Chennai Super Kings and is all set to take part in the IPL 2023 final with them. Moeen has been part of CSK since 2021 and won the title with them in the same year. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2022 mega auction with trust showed on him for a longer term. With IPL franchises focusing more on globalization and now owning multiple franchises around the world, they want to offer year long contracts to some cricketers so that they can be their multi-franchise cricketers. Recently reports emerged that a few English cricketers are very close to signing a year long deal for these franchises. Names of Jofra Archer and Jason Roy were the first one to come out. Now, Moeen Ali's name might join that list as he is set to be offered a big money deal from Super Kings group owned franchise, , Texas Super Kings, to play in the 2024 edition of Major League Cricket. Jason Roy to Cancel ECB Central Contract, Accept Lucrative Offer of Playing for LA Knight Riders in Inaugural Season of Major League Cricket: Report.

Chennai also own a side in the South African 20 league, the Joburg Super Kings, and want to recruit Moeen for that side too. Texas tried to sign Moeen for this season’s Major League Cricket tournament but, as a centrally contracted England player, Moeen was not permitted to play. Previously, Jason Roy terminated his England incremental contract to participate in the Inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket for Los Angeles Knight Riders. Moeen is under a central contract until October 1. He is a crucial part of England’s plans for this year’s 50-over World Cup in India, but might retire from ODI cricket after that. The 2024 edition of the MLC is set to start immediately after the World Cup, so he might be part of that. Chennai Super Kings have already shown that they intend to contact leading figures across their franchises in other T20 leagues. Stephen Fleming, Chennai’s head coach, performs the same role for both Joburg and Texas.
