The former Indian captain note only became the highest run-scorer in women’s cricket but surpassed her male counterparts as well. After her half-century against Ireland, Mithali went past the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to become the highest run-getter for Indian in T20Is. Mithali thus far has scored 2283 runs for India in T20Is from 85 matches at an average of 37.42 and strike rate of 96.57. Rohit is second on the list with 2207 runs from 87 matches, followed by Kohli with 2102 runs. She apparently was the first Indian to score 1000 and 2000 runs in T20Is. As far as only women’s cricket is concerned, Mithali is way ahead of current Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (1870 runs) and opener Smriti Mandhana (1012) on the list of most runs in T20Is. Overall in women’s cricket, Mithali is fourth on the list. The right-handed batter holds many records across formats and is also hailed as ‘lady Sachin Tendulkar of women’s cricket’ for her commendable performances over the years. Fastest 1000 runs in Women’s T20Is: In 2014, Mithali became the fastest Indian women’s cricketer to reach 1,000 runs in T20 Internationals. She achieved the feat in just 42 innings. Mandhana is second on the list and she took 49 innings to reach the milestone.
Most 50s in Women’s T20Is for India: Mithali holds the record of most half-half-centuries in T20Is for India. She has notched 17 fifties thus far and is going strong. She is way above the rest of her teammates and Harmanpreet, second on the list, has just six half-centuries against her name.
Most consecutive 50s in Women’s T20Is: Mithali also holds the record of most consecutive scores of 50 or more in women’s cricket. She scored four back to back half-centuries against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa (twice).
