The day two of the third Test between India and Australia turned out to be an amazing one for the Indians. The visitors piled up 443 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets. Mitchell Starc bowled a full-length delivery which Pant flicked towards mid-on. While the Aussie pacer was going back to bowl, Pant came in between to complete his second run. Pant scored 39 off 76 deliveries and partnered Rohit Sharma to post a crucial 76-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Talking about the match, Cheteshwar Pujara went on to be the highest score with 106 runs. Whereas, Virat Kohli missed out on a century by scoring 82 runs. He surpassed the record of Rahul Dravid to be the highest scoring Indian batsman on foreign soil in a calendar year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India also hailed his feat on Twitter while announcing the record-breaking feat. In its tweet, BCCI wrote, “STAT ALERT! With 82 runs today, @imVkohli (Virat Kohli) has surpassed Rahul Dravid (1137) to register most number of runs in a calendar year in overseas Tests #KingKohli.”
