Mitchell Johnson Denies Interview With TOI, Newspaper Tweets Picture of Pacer With Journalist as Proof

The English daily published the interview on Sunday, conducted by journalist Sumit Mukherjee. However, Johnson has outrightly denied that he gave the interview in one tweet, but says that he agrees with parts of it in another interview.

The Times of India (TOI) has issued a clarification on the Former Australian pacestar Mitchell Johnson interview controversy. TOI Sports, on its official Twitter handle, put up an image of the journalist who interviewed the pacestar and said that the interview was "not a formal sit-down one" and was conducted over several short sessions "interspersed with Johnson's commentary stints." Johnson said in his second tweet that "Where has this come from? I don’t recall this. Who wrote this? I do agree with parts of it but I never sat down with anyone from memory."

However, The Times of India in a hard-hitting tweet said that "it stands by the interview and regrets Johnson's faint memory."

The ICC also tweeted about Johnson's interview and said in its tweet that "Good evening Mitch. Given your Twitter comments, we are going to unpublish the article that features quotes that have been attributed to you. Please get in touch via DM if you'd like to issue a clarification." Johnson is yet to respond to the ICC or the TOI report.
