Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Giants Highlights, WPL 2023: MI-W Beat GG-W by 55 Runs, Qualify for Playoffs

A comprehensive win this is for Mumbai Indians, who now have become the first team in the WPL to qualify for the playoffs. Harmanpreet Kaur's side have had a very good all-round performance in this game, despite Gujarat Giants having some positive moments for themselves. Another batting failure for Gujarat Giants which means their playoff chances have taken a big hit. Harmanpreet Kaur continued her fine form with the bat in hand while Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt starred with the ball, with them taking three wickets each. A five-star performance for Mumbai en route to their fifth win in WPL 2023!

Hayley Matthews have struck twice in her first over, taking the wickets of S Meghana and Annabel Sutherland. A double strike in the last over the powerplay has kept Mumbai Indians on top. Meghana was the first out to depart as she found Amelia Kerr in the deep. Sutherland departed next after she was trapped right in front of the stumps! Harleen Deol and S Meghana have hit few boundaries to come out of the pressure built on them by the Mumbai Indians bowlers. These two batters will be crucial for Gujarat to go the distance and they will also have to speed up the scoring rate.

Harmanpreet Kaur (51) struck another fifty in WPL 2023 as she led her Mumbai Indians side to against Gujarat Giants on Tuesday, March 14. Gujarat Giants started well with Ash Gardner dismissing Hayley Matthews in the very first over of the innings. But a partnership between Yastika Bhatia and Nat Sciver-Brunt took Mumbai to a good position before Sneh Rana's side bounced back with quick wickets. Kaur and Amelia Kerr looked to up the scoring rate and the former scored yet another half-century. Gujarat Giants once again pegged Mumbai back in the last over but they will back themselves to defend this. For Gujarat Giants, the best bowler of the day was Ashleigh Gardner. She ended with figures of 3/34 in her four overs. Gujarat's fielding also needs a mention, with Harleen Deol being brilliant in the outfield. Kim Garth also took a good catch, which saw Amelia Kerr dismissed. Gujarat need a win to keep their top-three hopes alive, while another victory for Mumbai will confirm a playoff spot.

The Kiwi batter wanted to play a drive but ended up slicing it up to point where a diving Garth grabs a good catch! The two batters have negated every threat posed by the Gujarat Giants bowlers. With these two players at the crease and four overs to go, the crowd at the Brabourne Stadium can expect more fireworks.
