The South African cricketer De Kock said in the pre-match press conference that he is determinant to score more runs in this ongoing IPL tournament. The Mumbai Indian player also stated that their team had a couple of discussions like how they will go about in closing the inning, as Delhi won the match because of Mumbai Indians inability to build partnerships. The Proteas wicket-keeper backed his team by saying that their bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Mitchel McClenaghan will bounce back strong. Quinton de Kock represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the previous season of IPL. He will get the opportunity to play RCB bowlers like Umesh Yadav, with whom he had practised in the nets. De Kock, however, said that no matter how much you know the bowler, it doesn't make a difference when you go out to play in the competitive surrounding.
The Mumbai Indian wicket-keeper batsman also added that this IPL tournament would prepare them well for ICC World Cup 2019. De Kock stated that foreign players in Indian Premier League learn how to play against spinners in the sub-continent.
Mumbai Indians batsman Yuvraj Singh scored a half-century in his MI debut. Both Mumbai and Bangalore faced defeat in their opening match; therefore they will look forward to earning two points when they play each other in the game no 7 of Vivo IPL 2019.
