After electing to bat first, Mumbai Indians (MI) were off to a brisk start in the final of Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma managed to put on 45 runs for the first wicket inside five overs. The left-hander in the third over smashed Deepak Chahar for three sixes in over. De Kock first smashed Chahar over midwicket and then few balls later the ball traveled over third man region after the batsman got a thick outside edge. De Kock’s charge, however, did not last long and the left-hander was caught in the fifth over. While trying to pull Shardul Thakur for second consecutive six, de Kock got a top-edge and the ball went up high in the air. De Kock’s stay lasted only 17 balls but he provided the right kind of start to Mumbai Indians, something rest of the batsman can build on. During his stay in the middle, de Kock smashed four sixes. Soon after de Kock’s dismissal, Mumbai lost skipper Rohit as well and at the end of the powerplay, MI were 45 for two.
