Meg Lanning recorded the highest invidious score in a Women's T20 international match. The Australian women’s team captain scored unbeaten 133 off just 63 balls against England in the first Women’s Ashes 2019 T20I to create the new record. Interestingly, Lanning bettered her own record of 126 set against Ireland in March 2014. Courtesy, Lanning unbeaten knock, Australia Women posted mammoth 226 for three in their allotted 20 overs. Apart from the skipper, opener, Beth Mooney scored 54 off 33 balls, which included eight fours and a six.

In response, England Women could manage only 133 for nine in their 20 overs and thus lost the match by 93 runs. Right-hander Lauren Winfield was the top-scorer for her side with 33 runs. For Australia, Megan Schutt scalped three wickets while Ellyse Perry chipped in with two wickets.

The two teams will now lock horns in the second and third T20I on July 28 and July 31. Australia have already won the three-match ODI series and also retained the Women’s Ashes after the one-off Test match ended in a draw.
