Mayank Agarwal will have to wait a little longer to make his Test debut for India, as the squad announced by the BCCI doesn’t have his name featured in it. The second Test match between India and West Indies will start from October 12, and the team management has put out a 12-member squad which will be playing in it. India Beat West Indies in Rajkot Test by an Innings and 272 Runs, Take 1–0 Lead in Two-Match IND vs WI Series.

After a maiden century on his Test debut, Prithvi Shaw will be opening the innings with KL Rahul, who didn’t have a decent outing in the first match. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane will fill the middle order positions respectively.

If India persists with the three-pronged spin attack, then Kuldeep Yadav is likely to keep his spot in the Indian team, with the other two being presumably occupied by R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

On the other hand, if India decides to add a third fast-bowler in the team, Shardul Thakur is likely to debut. However, the chances are very bleak for the young fast bowler.

India won the first Test match comprehensively and would be looking to repeating their performances in the second Test too. KL Rahul would be looking to prove a point after got out cheaply in the match, and also wasted a DRS call, something which has been accused of doing in the past too.

With all said and done, it is the last Test match before India heads to Australia for a full-fledged tour later this year. Mayank Agarwal’s snub from the Test team would be a tough question for the Indian team management to answer.

Given how the team performed against West Indies, Agarwal could have been given a chance ahead of Ajinkya Rahane or KL Rahul; also keeping in mind the long tour ahead. However, he will have to wait a while more to make his debut.
