As West Indies look to book their place in 2019 Cricket World Cup, the Carribean nation defeated Zimbabwe by four wickets in a Super Sixes contest of ICC Cricket World Cup 2018 Qualifier. Senior batsman Marlon Samuels scored valuable 86 off 80 balls to guide his side to win while chasing 290. During his match-winning knock, Samuels hit six fours and four sixes. Interestingly, one of the sixes from Samuels’ bat went on to smash a window of one of the premises at the stadium. The incident took place during the 39th over when Samuels smashed Graeme Cremer down the ground. You can watch the video of the six here.
Interestingly, earlier in the tournament Windies batsman Rovman Powell broke a window as well while playing against Ireland in a group stage match. The batsman smashed press box window with a six as he completed his maiden century. Looks like, breaking window panes is on Windies batsmen’s hit list.
Coming back to the West Indies vs. Zimbabwe contest, apart from Samuels, Even Lewis and Shai Hope contributed to team’s success as well. The opener and the number three batsman scored 64 and 76 respectively. Batting first, Zimbabwe posted 289 thanks to former captain Brendan Taylor’s magnificent 138 off 124 balls.

Courtesy this win, West Indies are on top of Super Sixes points table and have one game remaining. The Jason Holder-led side has accumulated six points and look almost certain for a place in the finals. They now take on third-placed Scotland next and a win in that fixture will guarantee them a place in the next year’s World Cup.
