Mahmudullah Riyad Announces Retirement from T20Is, Series Against India To Be Bangladesh All-Rounder's Last in Shortest Format

The experienced all-rounder made this announced ahead of the IND vs BAN 2nd T20I 2024, which is scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India have a 1-0 lead and another win will see them win the series.

Mahmudullah Riyad has announced that he will retire from T20Is after the series against India. The Bangladesh all-rounder made this announcement while addressing a press conference ahead of the IND vs BAN 2nd T20I 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Earlier, Bangladesh's 'The Daily Star' had reported that the veteran was keen on ending his career in the shortest format after the IND vs BAN T20I series. The all-rounder has featured for 139 T20Is where he scored a total of 2395 runs, with a highest score of 64* and having a strike rate of 117.74. With the ball in hand, Mahmudullah has picked up 40 wickets in 139 matches, with his best figures being 3/10. Earlier, experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had also pulled down the curtains on his career in the shortest format, stating that the T20 World Cup 2024 in USA and West Indies was his last. India take on Bangladesh in the second T20I of the three-match series on October 9 while the third T20I, which will be Mahmudullah Riyad's last, will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on October 12.
