Looks like the ICC is hell-bent on clearing corruption from cricket and is leaving no stone unturned to do so. It was on Wednesday the ICC said that the body is investing serious allegations in Sri Lankan cricket. ICC anti-corruption unit general manager Alex Marshall in a statement refused to comment any further on the matter as the investigations are still going on and they have kept the Sri Lankan President, Prime Minister and Sports Minister in the loop about all the happenings. ICC Investigating Corruption in Sri Lankan Cricket.

Now, ICC’s statement was tweeted by a popular Sri Lankan journalist. The tweet read, “ICC Anti-Corruption Unit, who are currently in Sri Lanka as part of their “ongoing investigations into serious allegations of corruption in cricket in Sri Lanka” has given a detailed briefing to the Sri Lankan President, Prime Minister about the ongoing investigations – ICC”. Sri Lanka’s former captain of the country Mahela Jayawardena reacted to the same and said, “This is interesting!”

Marshal also went on to say that the ICC is getting full cooperation and support from the Sri Lanka cricket and the investigations do not involve the upcoming five-match one-day series, one Twenty20 match and a one-off Test between England and Sri Lanka. The one-day series between the two teams begins on October 10, 2018. "I'd like to make it clear that these investigations have been underway for a considerable time and do not relate to the series about to start in Sri Lanka. However, I will take the opportunity to brief both the teams over the coming days to ensure they remain alert to the risks from would be corruptors," Marshall said.
