Lucknow will host its first international match in 24 years, as India and West Indies are set to compete in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match in the city. The schedule of India vs West Indies 2018 series was announced, on Friday. West Indies will be touring India for a full-fledged tour in October that will stretch for two months.

Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium has been unlucky on a number of occasions in the past. Earlier, the stadium was also tipped to witness a handful of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 matches; however, as things between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils didn’t materialise, Lucknow was deprived of another international-level competition.

Last year, Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium was initially selected as the venue for India vs New Zealand third ODI match. However, the venue was cancelled after lack of infrastructural facilities.

India and West Indies will be competing in two-match Test series, followed by a five-match ODI series, and concluding the tour with a three-match T20I series. It will be India’s first bilateral T20I series at home, against West Indies, after they lost the ICC T20 World Cup semi-final loss.

A look at the Venues of India vs West Indies 2018 Series:

  • 1st Test: 4-8 October, Rajkot
  • 2nd Test: 12-16 October, Hyderabad
  • 1st ODI: 21 October, Guwahati
  • 2nd ODI: 24 October, Indore
