South Africa women's national cricket team captain Laura Wolvaardt achieved a T20I milestone during the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 against Scotland Women. Wolvaardt slammed a quick-fire 40 off 27, thus surpassing former South Africa Women's captain Lizelle Lee's tally of 1,896 T20I runs to become the nation's leading run-getter in the format. Wolvaardt started her innings on 1,866 from 74 matches, and with the 40-run knock now has 1,906 runs, with one hundred and 12 half-centuries. Wolvaardt also had a great start to her campaign in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, scoring an unbeaten 59 in South Africa's win over West Indies in their first match. Against England, she scored 42 runs off 39 deliveries, with three fours to her name. During her stay at the crease against Scotland, she played some good shots en route to 40 off 27 balls before being dismissed by Katherine Fraser.
