Mayank Agarwal and Mohammed Shami were probably the difference between the two sides in the 1st India vs Bangladesh Test. The former slammed a record-breaking double-century while the pacer claimed seven wickets in the match which guided the hosts to a victory by an innings and 130 runs. The duo have been rewarded for their substantial effort and have gained their career-best position in ICC Test Rankings. Shami has jumped to eight places and now is the seventh-ranked Test bowler with 790 rating points. Another Indian player whose rankings was improved was Ravindra Jadeja who advanced to the 35th position in batsman rankings. While Ishant Sharma (20th) and Umesh Yadav (22nd) moved up to one slot. For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim’s half-century moved up to five slots to get 30th spot while Liton Das jumped to 82nd position from 96th. Pacer Abu Jayed, who took four wickets in the clash, gained 18 slots in the Test bowler’s rankings and now sits at the 62nd position.

Apart from Shami, Jasprit Bumrah (3rd) and Ravichandran Ashwin (10th) are the other two Indians in the Top-10 Test bowling rankings. Among the batsmen, Virat Kohli (2nd), Cheteshwar Pujara (4th), Ajinkya Rahane (5th) and Rohit Sharma (10th) are the four Indian batsmen present in the top-10 ICC Test batting rankings.

India have taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the ongoing Test series and are looking all set to clinch the series. The second match of the series will be a historic one as India and Bangladesh will play their first-ever Day-Night Test and either side will seek to welcome this new version on the game with a victory.
