Now, on the occasion of the third T20I against New Zealand at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium pacer was blazing guns and proved to be lethal once again, Malinga snapped four wickets in four consecutive balls. Talking about the match, after winning the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bat first and they scored 125 runs. Danushka Gunathilaka scored the highest runs for the side as he made 30 runs from 25 balls. Michael Santner and Todd Astle snapped three wickets each and Scott Kuggeleijn got one wicket. In reply, the Kiwis got bundled out on 88 runs. Malinga snapped five wickets in the match and bowled at a stunning economy of 1.50.

Needless to say that he was made the Player of the Match for the performance and Sri Lanka won the game by 37 runs. Despite this, the Kiwis walk away with the series and now stands on 2-1.
