Lasith Malinga went on to register impressive figures of 2/37 in his final ODI at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With this, he overtook Anil Kumble in the list of all-time leading wicket-takers as he snapped three wickets in the game.

Sri Lanka registered a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh by 91 runs in the first ODI. Lasith Malinga went on to register impressive figures of 2/37 in his final ODI at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With this, he overtook Anil Kumble in the list of all-time leading wicket-takers as he snapped three wickets in the game. Malinga has 338 wickets and stands ninth in the list. Whereas, Anil Kumble is on number 10 with 337 wickets. Currently, the pacer happens to be the third-highest wicket-taker in Sri Lanka with 338 wickets in 220 innings with only Muttiah Muralitharan (523) and Chaminda Vaas (399) above him on the list. The moment the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh got over, the social media was full of tweets where the netizens praised Malinga for his services.  The netizens were quite emotional with Malinga hanging up his boots. Malinga made a debut in international cricket in 2004 against UAE and had emerged as one of the best bowlers produced by Sri Lanka. Talking about the game, Sri Lanka posted a total of 314 runs with Kusal Perera scoring 111 runs from 99 balls. Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis both made 48 and 43 runs respectively. In the end, it was Bangladesh who got bundled out on the score of 223 runs.

Lasith Malinga and Nuwaan Pradeep snapped three wickets each. Lahiru Kumara and Dhananjaya de Silva got a single and two wickets respectively. It is said that Malinga will now move to Australia with his family permanently and would take up coaching as his regular business. A few days ago, he was already in talks with a few friends in Australia for the same.
