The 35-year-old, who has recently been battling injuries and fitness issues, will end his ODI career as the third-highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in ODIs. His 335 scalps also puts in the 10th position in the overall wicket-takers’ list. He will play his final ODI at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Malinga can overtake Anil Kumble (337 wickets) in the list of most ODI wicket-takers if he manages more than two wickets in his final ODI game. One wicket at Colombo will make it 50 wickets for the right-arm fast bowler at the venue. He represented Sri Lanka in four World Cup tournaments, including the 2019 World Cup.
He holds numerous records at the World Cups, including becoming the only bowler to take four wickets in four deliveries when he managed the feat against South Africa in the 2007 edition. He 4/43 against England will also be a memorable spell. It not just led Sri Lanka to a victory but also knocked the World Cup wide-open keeping many teams in the fray for the knock-outs berth.
